"Because this occurred within the defendant's house, he had no duty to retreat and had the right to meet force with force,” Assistant State Attorney Dawn Buff wrote in a memo. “The state is unable to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that defendant did not act in self defense.” " By Todd Ruger

Chopping and Changing: Personalizing a Fighting Handgun
"Good accuracy in a combat pistol doesn't necessarily mean all shots must be in one hole, just that the pistol can consistently hit the target to the owner's satisfaction. I can almost guarantee that no bad guy shot three times or more in the chest ever looked down and said, "A four inch group? That's not an accurate gun.""

Questions Mount About California's Microstamping Law
"First, the state's new law requiring firearms manufacturers to laser engrave identification numbers on a gun's firing pin did not go into effect January 1 because the technology remains encumbered by patents. And now the California Police Chiefs Association raises further questions about microstamping, saying the technology needs more study and is too costly, reversing its original position of support for the legislation." Violent home invader shot by armed homeowner
"Police say that the husband and wife, who own a home on Cloverleaf Street in Houston, were awakened by the sound of breaking glass and their home security system siren. The wife reportedly noticed an intruder, and yelled for her husband to grab his shotgun. Shotgun in hand, the husband is said to have seen a burglar dressed in black, who was brandishing a fire extinguisher. The husband reportedly fired one shot in self defense, hitting the burglar in the hip and causing him to scream then flee." By Eric Puryear

We don't let the states "experiment" on the First Amendment. Should the Second Amendment receive any less respect?
In Chicago's view, the Second Amendment should have no impact on its vast gun control regime. As the city has argued to the Court, "Firearms regulation is a quintessential issue on which state and local governments can 'serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country.'" Thus, Chicago claims it should enjoy "the greatest flexibility to create and enforce firearms policy." By DAMON W. ROOT

Gov. candidate already pumping personal wealth into race
"Unless you are a gun rights advocate, you probably haven’t heard of Owen “Buz” Mills, owner of a private weapons training center in Prescott. Various web blogs and media sites devoted to Second Amendment issues reported in early December that Mills had created an exploratory committee to run for governor as a Republican. He supposedly had been talking to party leaders, but otherwise has done almost nothing to bring his possible candidacy to the attention of voters. (For example, he has a campaign web site, but it’s just a static placeholder that includes no information at all)." posted by Le Templar

Javelinas terrorize Ahwatukee residents
"They terrorize the neighborhoods," said Fred Freedle. "They come out in the middle of the night. They're like a bunch of teenage hoodlums running up and down the neighborhood, knocking over garbage cans. They get into my flower patch in the front and just tear it up. It's like a pig pen after they're done." by Tom Cutler/KTAR

The Second Amendment faces a decisive year in 2010
"The Second Amendment faces a decisive year in 2010. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. has called for new semi-automatic gun bans - despite their decade-long record of fraud and failure, and despite his own Justice Department's failure to fully or even half-heartedly prosecute federal firearm felonies."
